These are the 3 best ebike routes in Limburg

Limburg is ideal for an ebike holiday, but where should you go? Here are the best ebike routes in south, central and north Limburg.

South Limburg: Geul and Gulp route (48 kilometres)

Ain’t no mountain high enough for you and your ebike? Then the south Limburg Downs are just the place for you. If you prefer less strenuous cycling, never fear: you won’t be pedalling uphill the entire time. The Geul and Gulp route has both hills and flat stretches along brooks and streams. You start outside the charming village of Gulpen and cycle across the Margraten plateau to Schin op Geul. There, the Keutenberg awaits you, one of the hardest climbs of the Amstel Gold Race. Made it to the top? Then you’ll descend to the village of Wittem with its monastery and follow the meandering Gulp back to Gulpen.

Maas and Maasplassen

Enjoying the Maas and the Maasplassen in the Central of Limburg

Central Limburg: Maasplassen lakes and Roer Valley (50.40 kilometres)

There are no hills on this route, just panoramic lakes, lush woods, tiny villages and...Roermond! You’ll explore the varied landscape of the Maasplassen lake district and the Roer Valley. Best of all, the route is flat and therefore ideal for an ebike. It starts at Oetsjpanning de Meuleberg, between Melick and Herkenbosch. The route then takes you to Monfort, the Maasplassen lakes, Heel and on to Roermond, a delightful town with an historic centre and an abundance of inviting outdoor cafés. Just outside Roermond, you’ll cycle along the Roer Valley back to your starting point.

e-bike route Limburg kasteel de Berckt

Castle de Berckt Baarlo

North Limburg: Castles and mills route between Sevenum and Venlo (55.21 kilometres)

You’ll cycle through charming little villages and scenic countryside on this route through north Limburg. But the real eyecatchers are the historic buildings set exquisitely in the landscape. There is De Borcht Castle, in Baarlo, and Kasteelmolen, a castle with a mill, along the small stream known as Kwistbeek. Bask in the splendid silence of Breukerheide moor, and listen to the wind rustling the leaves in Heldense Woods. The ferry across the Maas will take you straight back to the pleasant hustle and bustle of Venlo.
